Connect to SmartRace via cable (Android)
With certain Android devices it is possible to establish the connection between the tablet/smartphone running SmartRace and the Control Unit via cable. For the connection to work, the tablet/smartphone used must be USB-OTG capable. You can easily find out whether this is the case with the Android app “USB OTG Checker”, for example. If this requirement is met, two cable components are needed to establish the cable connection between SmartRace and the control unit:
- A mini DIN converter cable that connects to the control unit. You can find such a cable in many online stores that offer items related to Carrera tracks.
- A USB On-The-Go (OTG) adapter cable that fits the device you are using (e.g. Mini USB, Micro USB, etc.). This cable connects to the tablet/smartphone at one end and the Mini DIN cable mentioned above at the other end. By the way: If you use a Samsung device, there is a high probability that the adapter was already included with the device. Just take a look in the packaging. 🙂
If the device is connected to the control unit via cable and SmartRace is then started, the app automatically detects the cable connection.
