There is currently a problem with the release of SmartRace 6.0 on macOS. The latest version in the Mac App Store is still version 5.7.4. It is currently unclear why this is the case, but I am in contact with Apple to solve the problem. Until then, there is unfortunately no way to update existing macOS installations to SmartRace 6.0.
Update from 24.9.2024
The latest SmartRace version is now also available for macOS 12 and later. Find out more in the video.
Earlier update from 18.5.2024
SmartRace was released with a release form called “Universal Purchase” for macOS. This means that it is not two different apps, but the iOS and macOS app can be purchased with a single purchase. So if you own the iOS version, you automatically also own the macOS version. Technically, however, they are two separate apps with their own source code. As I cannot develop this code any further for various reasons, I would like to remove the macOS version so that users can use the iOS version of SmartRace on macOS in future. Unfortunately, according to Apple, it is not possible to remove only the macOS version of the app. However, this is exactly what I would need to be able to unlock the use of the iOS version on macOS (its not possible to unlock this as long as there is a dedicated macOS version available through “Universal Purchase”). According to Apple, there is currently no solution for this. This means that the macOS version of the app is still on sale and there is nothing I can do about it. I hope that Apple will come up with a solution in the near future.
